So many ways to get started
Mentoring Children of Promise
Having a mom or dad in prison can make growing up more difficult. Children with an incarcerated parent often need additional support and guidance. Big Brothers Big Sisters MCOP program helps broaden their perspectives on what they can achieve in life.
Indeed there is a U.S. Senate report that states 70% children of incarcerated parents will themselves at some point be incarcerated – unless they have positive adult intervention. That is why mentoring children of prisoners is a key component of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ goal to reach more kids, especially those who may face significant risk factors.
Through the support of the Department of Juvenile Justice, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward, is able to work with the custodial/legal guardians for the youth dealing with an incarcerated parent to provide caring, consistent one-to-one mentoring that can better their lives for the better, forever.
