Approximately 150 Littles and their Bigs had a blast trying to reel in a big fish (or a little one) at last week’s Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s 42nd Annual Big Fish Tournament presented by Moss Foundation.

The tournament, hosted at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, attracted 20 boat captains who volunteered their boats, equipment and time to create special memories for Little Brothers and Little Sisters, who ranged in age from 6 to 17.

BIGGEST FISH

1st Place: Tramari, 40 inch Mahi Mahi – Captain Jeff Salter’s Boat, Lady Helen
2nd Place: Alex, 38 inch Barracuda – Captain Mike Lavelle’s boat, Lofin
3rd Place: Haven, 30 inch Benita – Captain Chaz’s boat, Full Circle 2

MOST FISH

1st Place: Landon, 35 fish caught – Captain John Nelson’s Boat, Salty Lady II
2nd Place: Zach, 28 Fish Caught – Captain Mike Cunningham and Karen Tedesco’s boat, Snappers and Grunts
3rd Place: Breanna, 20 Fish Caught – Captain Jorge Lang’s boat, Lady T

“It was a beautiful day all around,” said Malena Mendez, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County.  “Our kids had so much fun, the volunteer captains were great, and our sponsors were exceedingly generous.  We couldn’t be more grateful.”
