“This is the first time we’ve had a peaceful Christmas.”
For the supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County, everything is always about the kids – particularly during the holiday season. Over the holidays, donors make magic happen for BBBS youth, who often come from low-income homes. And this past year was no exception. Hundreds of donated toys and gift cards brought joy to the families in the BBBS program.
Check out the generosity, by the numbers:
36 families totaling 144 parents and children received Thanksgiving meals thanks to the generosity of La Rosa Realty Ralph Lauren, TradeStation Group, Inc., and Van Horn Law Group;
20 different donors provided 1,500 toys and 100 gift cards to 85 families in celebration of Christmas and Hanukkah;
33 of these families received gifts from wish lists provided by the youth and parents through Angel Tree drives and Adopt-A-Family programs, ensuring each child received their heart’s desire;
7 children in a single-parent household celebrated their first Christmas in South Florida with a full complement of holiday gifts, thanks to the generosity of JPay Solutions. “This is the first time we’ve had a peaceful Christmas,” said Doritha, the single mother of 3 boys and 4 girls. “And with all these amazing gifts, my children had the best Christmas they could have ever hoped for.” In addition to goodies for the kids, Doritha received essentials to cook, clean and care for her children.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County is so grateful for all of its supporters, those who have such generous hearts for youth in need. On behalf of these children, we thank YOU!
